“Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you.”
Oh, but the view from my Hollywood apartment says just as much,
as the mismatching curtains of the opposing apartment’s windows greet me,
idle and vacant and aging.
Today is a new day, and this marks a new year,
the beginning of new choices,
the closing of old chapters.
I cannot help but stare out my window,
as the rain pours down hard on the shiny cars,
and daydream endlessly of this pretty scene.
Still, it’s my birthday today,
there are more choices to make,
and tomorrow is another day.
