I grew up where the voices of Anthony Kiedis, Zack De La Rocha, and Omar Rodríguez-López ring true,
where the skies are the bluest dreams and life seems alright,
where the beaches are spotted with hippies and brown waves,
where culture is in every dark corner and crevice in the sidewalk,
where love is spread as thin as paper and created as artificially as fast food,
where our hair and eyes are brown and our parents come from strange places,
where we grow up to follow our pot-induced ideologies to stimulate our creative liberations,
where the stardust of what we do is hidden beneath our languages,
where Jesus and Maria and Buddha decorate our walls like cheap wallpaper,
where all of these things remind me of how much I love my home,
my beautiful Los Angeles.
