Goodbye

And just like that,
you fill up the rest of the empty spaces in your carry-on,
stuffing t-shirts in one place and books in another,
and the little figure beside you grins unknowingly,
his eyes as bright as the afternoon sun,
and he pokes around at your toiletries,
mumbling baby-isms to himself
while his tiny fingers continue to explore the length of that dark rectangular shape,
and before anyone begins to notice,
he finally manages to unzip your luggage as you disappear around the corner.
